Christmas is already in stores.

Even though Halloween has no yet come, retail stores are already stocking up their shelves with Christmas decorations and gifts.

The stores are trying to stimulate holiday feeling ahead of schedule because of the economy crisis. Retailers are anxious of about "the parismonious moods among shoppers."

The National Retail Federation predicts that Christmas sales will decline 1 percent from last years. But it's not as bad as the sales in 2007 when the retail revenue fell 3.4 percent. So stores are trying to make this years Christmas as fun as possible by stocking the shelves early.

Also to make more sales, stores like Macys are trying to do donations like the "Make a Wish" Foundation, or the mailbox that is used for letters that can be droped of for Santa.

There are also more Christmas ads coming out. For example, one ad proclaims "Merry Christmas to all, and to all great prices.

I think it's great that stores are trying to get shoppers into the Christmas moods and are trying to help their sales. But stocking shelves before we even hit Halloween is a little to early in my case. I'm still decorating my house with scary Halloween things and I'm starting to prepare for a great Halloween night but having these Christmas decorations aroun stores sets my mood a little off.

  1. I LOVE Christmas time but I'm sorry, I can do without seeing 5 foot Santa's and 10 foot Christmas trees when the weather outside is 80 degrees! I agree. It does set my mood off. Tonight I was at the mall looking for something to wear to the Florida Georgia game this weekend where it is going to be 85 degrees and there are Christmas sweaters and decorations everywhere! It's suffocating. They should at least wait until Halloween is over.

  2. It seems as if every year stores are stocking their shelves with supplies and decorations for the holidays to early. It is ridiculous that it is not even haloween and stores are already promoting Christmas. The only part about the article I liked was the fact that Macy's will be doing donations having to do with the "Make A Wish" foundation.

  3. While it does seem a little bit early, I don't think it's any earlier than years of the past. One of my friends is a district manager for an arts and crafts store, and due to all the arts and crafts associated with Christmas(not to mention Halloween and Thanksgiving,) his "big season" starts on Labor Day weekend and goes heavy and not-stop through New Year's sales.

I don't like it either. When Christmas starts that early, by the time the actual holiday arrives, I'm beyond over it.

  4. And we are forgetting about Thanksgiving! I personally love Christmas to no end, I wish we decorated for Christmas all year round! Anyway, I believe that the early response to Christmas is to get parents, and all shoppers for that matter in the mind set that they should start saving early in order to be able to give everyone presents. It is actually pretty smart, if you plant Christmas in the minds around Halloween; as so as this holiday ends consumers will automatically go into Christmas shopping mode.

  5. I used to think having Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving was way too early. I live in San Marco and about a month ago they opened a new store of only Christmas decorations. I thought it was the strangest thing. I guess they really are trying to get people in the spirit for holidays hoping they will shop more.
