Hi,

Sony wants to start make its animated hit “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” available to consumers directly through Internet-enabled televisions and Blu-ray players before the movie is released on DVD.

The economy crisis is causing people not to buy DVDs, which puts many store retails on a decline in sales. So Sony wants to help out in the home entertainment.

The chief executive of Sony, Howard Stringer, also said that “We don’t need a war with Wal-Mart or any other organization, and I don’t think they’re hostile to this." "It will make televisions more valuable, and that’s a good thing.”

I think it's good that Sony is trying to try to do things to help the us out. If the movie would have been something that I would have been really interested in I would have purchased it before the realease of the DVD. Hopefully it will work out for Sony.

  1. I think internet enabled TV's are really cool. People these days want newer and faster things at a lower price. TV and internet incorporated into one large display is something that I would be interested in, and getting movies that way would be better than renting I guess. Great post.

  2. I read a little about this, and I think it's a good idea, too. Seems like everything is making a transition to the web. I think eventually everything is going to go through the internet, which will be bad if the internet crashes or something. Sounds like a movie.

  3. I think its a good idea. The web is so popular that eventually everything will be through the net. Now just like the comment before me said it will suck if computer crashes but, it will be a good move i think.

  4. I think its a good idea as well. More and more people are moving away from TV and towards the internet for different reasons- convenience, cost, etc. Sony might as well take advantage of what they can.
